yes, I'm still alive!

Life sucks without the Internet in your house. Okay, sucks is a bit strong, but it's quite hard to keep in touch when you check e-mail one time a day, and not on the weekends. And everyone's so used to instant responses that they now think I've fallen off the face of the earth. And if you read this journal, you might think that as well, that I'd been kidnapped by aliens. The only good thing about my desk job was the easy access to Live Journal.

So, to recap, I've been driving four hours to the old place every weekend, packing up stuff and bringing it back to the new place. That driving really takes a toll, and I'm not the one who had to drive the U-Haul! The yard sale went better than I expected, and friend Brian was a dear and helped us load the majority of our belongings into the truck. Then some new friends from the SCA group up here volunteered and helped unload. Still lots of boxes are waiting to be unpacked, however, and I'm reminded why we stayed in the crappy rented house as long as we did there. Other events demanding my time include my mom visiting the area for a week. I hadn't seen her since March, so I spend as many afternoons with her as I could.

So back to the Internet thing, looks like finally the new place will join the digital age this week, which is good because I have to make on-line posts for my class (ain't technology grand?). As soon as I can stay up late in my pajamas reading everyone's journal, I'll be checking in on all of you!

Summer school is winding down, we're on the final two weeks. I've got my teaching assignments for Fall, two MWF classes in the computer classrooms - quite a feather in my teaching cap, and it's all because I don't fear technology. The only thing that scares me about technology is the thought of having a computer chip implanted in my head. Hopefully that's not too likely.
