Indiana has a ton of crickets. They are everywhere and constantly making their weird cricket noises. It sounds like a swamp here! Actually I don't mind so much, it drowns out my tinnitus.
I'd hoped the builders next door would drown mine with their constant banging and crashing, but the fury engendered in having that noise all the time makes me mad, and when I'm mad, I'm stressed and when I'm stressed - louder tinnitus! Talk about a vicious circle!
I'd go with what shipbrook said - they are fine outside in a chorus, but in your house and solo - no thanks. Fortunately they only get in the basement!
ewww - I bet crickets go crunch! These guys are in the basement hiding - no kitties allowed in the basement, too many nooks and crannies for them to disappear into!
A thousand crickets all going at once are several orders of magnitude better than one single, solitary cricket chirping incessantly from cunning concealment somewhere within your room.

Say it enough times and you've said it a bunch of times.
