Why did they make that red carpet self-congratulatory pre-premiere special? I could have used a clip - update show, because I've forgotten much of how the season ended. But maybe they did that on purpose, it seems as if they are acting like much of Season 2 didn't happen. What I do remember isn't squaring with where things started.

Hiro - I realize that he's been consigned to permanent comic relief duty, so the lameness of his plot line makes sense in that context. If the formula was that important, his father surely would have made other arrangements. And where is Hiro's businesswoman sister, can't she run the company if he's so bored?

Time travel -a trope that is abused on this show. How many times have characters traveled back and forth before and changed things, now suddenly it's a problem? Why didn't Peter go back and explain to Nathan why he shouldn't out himself as a guy who can fly? And where did Peter get the ability to trap someone's consciousness in another person's body? Where is PresentPeter's body?

Mohinder - totally out of character, he must have read Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde over the break. That, or the writers watched The Fly while working on the script. I liked having him as a non Emo Sapien, just to balance out the mix. Though it was kind of nice to see him get his ticket punched. Seems like Maya has completely forgotten about her brother, she didn't even mention him when Mohinder asked about her power, which was entwined with his.

Claire and Syler - the English major in me is reading what transpired between them as a rape allegory: she can't "feel" anything, he attacked  her and she healed physically but not emotionally, even the way he "messed with her head". This allegory would also explain the convenience of mere chains keeping him from breaking into her hiding place, when he was capable of locking doors and somehow conjuring shutters over windows. Yet wasn't Syler missing much of his powers at the end of season 2?

It's an entertaining show, and yes, it's better than most network shows. Still, I expect better dialog than Sylar calling his Season 2 Mexico adventure a “long night after a bad taco”. Urgh.
