peeps who sell on Etsy
Sep. 30th, 2010 07:33 amI've been on Etsy for a while, selling mostly vintage patterns. I have to say that I have been less and less impressed by their way of doing business, which is documented over at the blog Etsy Bitch, and to a lesser extent at Regretsy. One of the more annoying / disturbing habits management has over there is their canceling accounts of sellers who voice complaints over on their forums. There are other problems though - mainly their refusal to get rid of resellers - sure, there's nothing wrong with an artist selling her extra supplies - but who can compete with someone buying pre-made bracelets from Fire Mountain Gems?
So I've decided to take advantage of Artfire's latest promotion - $5.95 / mo for a premium shop. You can also list for free there, but this is a pretty decent deal. You need to be signed up before Friday, so if you decide to go for it, sign up now. They have solved a lot of the problems Etsy still struggles with - like every item listed on Artfire gets listed in Google Shopping.
I don't get any referrals from Artfire, I just wanted to raise awareness of Etsy's dark side and offer an alternative.
