She tried to stick around to see Jeff, but we didn't want her to suffer any more.
She had a long life and she was a great cat.

Mr. Man had a similar dilemna regarding Ilsa a couple of years back, so we can relate. Fate can be so cruel and heartless.

We had to do this with my mom's little old lady cat (19? Maybe?) in December or January. Mom was crushed. She had kidney issues, hip dysplasia, arthritis and had developed type II diabetes, and mom just could not bring herself to give an old moody kitty painful injections every day. We took her in when she stopped eating.
She's buried in a tin (Mom asked to adopt our doggie, and doggies are notoriously bad at leaving graves alone), marked by a kitty-shaped stone, under the lavender bushes in mom's herb garden.
It's amazing how they love us until the end, isn't it?

So sorry to hear that she didn't, but I understand why it didn't happen, its always so hard to see them in pain.
{{Big hugs}}
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, she was a good, sweet cat.

(Britlyn started purring for no reason about the time I got to your post. Apparently she wanted to comfort you too.)

And Caber and Cerridwen now have a koi to keep them company, out in a quiet space in the back yard. We lost Argentiel II last week, who was quite literally too stupid to live. She jumped OUT of the tank...
